For the first post of this blog, let's us make a simple introduction to you that what are rivets. Rivets are one common type of locking devices that we use in daily life. In aviation, they are quite important accessories in aircraft structure. So, now let's us bring you guys and girls into the introduction of rivets.
- A rivet is a metal pin or bar with a cylindrical shank.
- Rivets are necessary for fastening two or more pieces of metal together.
- Non-detachable form of fastening device.
- One end of the rivet has a head formed previously by the manufacturer.
- Designed for the primary load to be carried in shear.
